Four Birthdays, a Shower and Easter

We had a busy Easter weekend.  We were going up to Mount Vernon anyway for Easter, so we decided to go up there the day before to have time to visit my mom and one or two of my old friends.  But then it turned out that my niece-in-law's baby shower was Saturday so it worked out great because I was going to go to that anyway, so it was awesome that it just happened to be the same weekend that I was already going to be up there! So anyway, we drove up late Saturday morning, visited mom, then met my oldest, dearest childhood friend for lunch.  Then me and the girls rode with my stepmom to the shower while Paul took a drive up to Baker Lake, about another hour and 15 minutes Northeast of MV.  After the shower we took my Dad and stepmom out for Dad's 81st birthday, which also happened to be Saturday, then we spent the night at their home and went to church with them on Sunday and then to my niece's for Easter dinner and an egg hunt, and we celebrated all the March birthdays of

Bingo and Girl Scout Cookies

Last Thursday was Bingo night at the girls' school.  It's so much fun!  They have a pizza dinner before and then it's game time.  When the kids get a bingo they get to pick out a prize (if a grownup gets one they usually let their kid pick a prize).  Olivia got one and got a cute notepad with a giraffe.  Then for the final blackout Bingo at the end the give at $25 Amazon gift cards (there usually ends up being multiple winners) and Kayley won one! Ready! Olivia won a prize (and it was St. Patrick's Day) Olivia's ready!   The girls and a friend Then Saturday the girls each had a Girl Scout cookie booth sale at a grocery store.  Our troop always does it in pairs, so last year the girls just did it together but this year they each did it with another scout friend, so Kayley was first from 12-2 and then Olivia was next from 2-4.  Paul and I took turns being with them so neither of us would have to be there the whole 4 hours. Show us your Life

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner for her returning series Show Us Your Life.  If you are visiting from there, welcome!   I am a 47-year-old mom of 8-year-old twin girls.  My husband Paul and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary this May.  Obviously, I was on the older side when we got married and tried to get pregnant and was down one ovary due to endometriosis so we sought fertility treatments right away and finally conceived the girls via IVF.   I started this blog about 7 1/2 year ago as a means of keeping family and friends informed about what was going on with the girls and as a way to vent about the difficulties of parenting twins (lots of places you can't easily go with a double stroller and Mom and Me yoga classes were out).  But I'm happy to say it’s MUCH easier now than those first few years!  After 6+ years as a stay-at-home mom I returned to work a few years ago.  Now I mostly whine blog about being a working mom trying to keep up with home

Eight is Great

The girls turned 8 on Sunday!  The main celebration was Great Wolf Lodge the previous weekend, so on Saturday the 27th (the day before) we just had both sets of Grandparents over for dinner.  I totally forgot to take pictures except for the cake and a few earlier in the day as I was setting up.   Decided to break out the china.  Might as well, hardly ever get to use it! Their actual birthday on Sunday was pretty uneventful and low key.  Olivia was just getting over being sick so we just stayed home all day and then we have this one set of friends that we have over every year for the Oscars so we did that.  Kayley wouldn't let me take her picture but here's Olivia;
