Summer Break, Weeks 5 and 6

We are officially more than half way through the girls' summer break!  Seems like it just started. Also, I officially changed my blog title (web address is still the same, though).  And I created a header but I'm still working on it.  I was just playing around and ran out of time.  It's a work in progress.  On to my weekly recap. Week 5 - (The week before the one that just ended) the girls had soccer camp.  It was just a half day camp, so my neighbor, whose kids were also in the camp (her daughter was in the same one as the girls and her son was in a different one at the same location), picked them up for me and then they had their regular babysitter in the afternoons. In exchange, I took her kids in the mornings, except for the first day because she wanted to get them all signed in and what-not and the last day because Paul needed his car back (I had traded with him to accomadate the extra kids).  I didn't get any pictures because I just dropped them off and went t

What's Up Wednesday

Time for another round of What's Up Wednesday, hosted by Shay , Mel and Sheaffer . What we're eating - I'm currently on another merry-go-round of some days really healthy some days not so healthy.  I'm chaperoning the girls' Girl Scout troop's trip to Great Wolf Lodge this weekend so I'll do my best to bring some healthy snacks along but I hoping to really get back on track come Monday. What I’m reminiscing about – This week Ken Griffey, Jr. was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame, so I’ve been reminiscing about the Mariner’s magical ’95 season.  There's an iconic photo but I don't want to post it for copyright reasons so just Google! What I’m loving – that this summer hasn’t been as hot as the last several.  We don’t have A/C and the last several summers have been brutal (although we did finally get a window unit for our bedroom last summer so that helped). What I’m dreading – chaotic school mornings starting in 35 days.

Office Space

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner again for Every Day Real Life Home Tours and today is all about home offices. As you may recall, we recently gave up our office/guest room to give the girls separate bedrooms. What was our office is now Olivia's room.  So now we have just a small little office space in our loft/bonus room.  And like with most projects, I haven't had time to fix it up the way I'd like.  Here's what it looks like now: And this is the look I'm eventually going for: OR but with a ladder-type bookshelf next to it and a shelf or two above. Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Break, Week 4: Vacation in Cabo San Lucas

Nothing much happened in week 3, but last week was our vacation to Cabo San Lucas!  We had so much fun!  Here's a quick rundown of our week. We got up at 3:00 AM on Saturday the 9th and the girls actually got right up with no hesitation.  They were so excited.  Our flight left at 6:45, we had a quick stop in San Diego and then were in Cabo around 2:00 PM Cabo time.  We checked in, got settled in our room and then Paul's sister stayed with the girls while he and I and his parents went grocery shopping at Costco and Walmart.  I think we went swimming that evening but I can't remember.  I know we were all exhausted! Sunday, our first full day, we spent the whole day by the pool.  We ordered fish tacos and quesadillas poolside for lunch (and 2 for 1 drinks!).  It was nice. Monday we drove to Santa Maria beach and did some snorkeling.  The rest of the day was spent by the pool. Tuesday we swam with the dolphins!  That was so cool and the girls loved it.  The rest of

Vacation Bucket List

So we are heading to Cabo San Lucas tomorrow and I could not be more excited.  I have a list of things I want to do so I thought it would be fun to post a bucket list and then see how many of the items I actually check off because some of the things are pretty much a given ("have a drink at the swim-up bar") and some will require real effort ("watch the sunrise"). So here it is: Have a drink at the swim-up bar.  I've never been to a place with a swim-up bar before! Watch a sunrise.  It will be very hard to get up early enough but I'm going to try just once. Watch a sunset.  This will be easy, obviously. Snorkle Have a date night (maybe 2!) with Paul (his parents are going too so they can watch the girls) Swim with the dolphins. Swim in each of the 7 pools at the resort.  Yes, 7. Eat at Cabo Wabo.  Or at least walk by, take a picture and maybe go inside and by a keychain. Drink one of the free Mango Margaritas at the resort.  They

The Girls' Bedrooms

Today I'm once again linking up with Kelly's Korner for another home tours post, this time kids' bedrooms.  I actually just did a similar post a few months ago when we moved Olivia into her own room so I'm just going to recycle some of that material. So this is Olivia's new bedroom.  It used to be our guest room/office.  She chose this sea green color and then we found some cool tie-dye bedding at Kohl's. We are going to replace this dollhouse/bookshelf with just a regular bookshelf and have already bought one, we just haven't put it together yet.  Then we still need to get a desk and some wall art. Her dresser and doll wardrobe thingie.  Eventually we will paint those closet doors   and all the trim white. And now Kayley's room.  This was the room that they shared until recently.  Kayley got a new bed and bedding, and a nightstand to match her dresser.  I love the bookshelf headboard and the cubbie at the foot of the bed.
