Snow, Sleepover and Stable

Today's post is brought to you by the letter "S".

It's been snowing a ton here lately, which is unusual for March in the Seattle area except we're a ways East and at 900+ feet, so it's not out of the norm for us.  After being home all day Monday due to getting our DirectTV installed and yesterday just because it was snowy and icky out, I was itching to get out today, so we went to storytime at the library and then to Starbucks.  I also met up with a lady to buy her wooden horse stable that she was selling on Craiglist.  I'd been wanting to get one for the girls but they're kind of expensive, and yesterday I just got to thinking about them out of the blue and decided to look on Craigslist and lo and behold, there it was, in my town and everything!

Tomorrow we are going to meet Grandma and the girls' great-aunt at the mall for lunch and a little shopping, and then the girls are going to go home with Grandma for a sleepover.  Paul and I will have a night to ourselves and then Friday after work he's going to go spend the weekend at his parents and go skiing with his sister (her Christmas gift to him), and I will have the whole weekend to myself!  I mostly want to shop, not necessarily to buy much (although I do have a ton of gift cards to redeem) but I just want to hit a bunch of stores that I never have time to go to.  When I'm not out shopping, I have a bunch of projects to work on including tagging and organizing items for the upcoming consignment sale.  I'm just so excited to have a weekend to myself to do whatever I want.  I'm going to get Thai takeout and eat it while I watch Sex and the City, and I'm going to read some magazines and maybe take a bath.  And I'm going to go to Starbucks one morning and sip a latte while I read a book.

Lastly, here's a cute picture of the girls with Maisy:

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
