Weigh-In Wednesday

button

Once again, I hit the 4 pound mark and totally fell apart.  The girls were at their grandparents' all weekend and Paul and I had a date night and then he went down to join them giving me some free time and I just overall have splurged over the last several days.  I haven't bothered to weigh-in but I'm sure I'm up a few pounds, if not all 4 or even more.

BUT.  As of today I am back on track.  I was planning on going to the gym when Paul gets home from work but it's nice enough outside that I'll probably just go for a run/walk.

Speaking of running, it was this time last year that I was training for my first 5K.  I ran the thing in early June and have since never run more than a mile and a half and since the fall I don't think I've run more than 5 or 6 minutes at a time without stopping to walk.  I want to do another 5K in November (our community has an annual Turkey Trot--it's nice and close and cheaper than some of the others) but I will totally need to build back up to being able to run a whole 3.1 miles.  I keep wanting to restart the couch-to-5K program but darn it, I want to lose some weight first.  I hate running at this weight.  It feels so gross.  I mean, there are lots of people way heavier than me who run just fine, but I just think it would be so much easier and more comfortable if I could lose some weight (one might think that running could be a good way to facilitate desired weight loss but one must also reduce one's caloric intake on more than just a few sporadic days here and there).  Anyway, at some point between now and early September I am going to start C25K again regardless of weight because I really do want to run that 5K in November.

Hi. I am a new reader. I agree that running long distances is difficult, especially if you aren't comfortable with your weight. I had my twin girls 11 months ago and even though I look thin, underneath the clothing I look and feel different. I have not attempted running yet. I get winded very easily these days. Good luck I hope you are able to get back into running and feel great about it!

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
