Show us your Life

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner for her returning series Show Us Your Life.  If you are visiting from there, welcome!

I am a 47-year-old mom of 8-year-old twin girls.  My husband Paul and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary this May.  Obviously, I was on the older side when we got married and tried to get pregnant and was down one ovary due to endometriosis so we sought fertility treatments right away and finally conceived the girls via IVF.

I started this blog about 7 1/2 year ago as a means of keeping family and friends informed about what was going on with the girls and as a way to vent about the difficulties of parenting twins (lots of places you can't easily go with a double stroller and Mom and Me yoga classes were out).  But I'm happy to say it’s MUCH easier now than those first few years!  After 6+ years as a stay-at-home mom I returned to work a few years ago.  Now I mostly whine blog about being a working mom trying to keep up with homework and activities while still (unsuccessfully) trying to find time for my never-ending and always increasing list of projects.  And I sometimes blog about my weight loss efforts (mostly futile, but I'm on a roll right now so stayed tuned).

I live in Washington State (yay for the west coast!  I don’t see many of us in the blogging world), about 25 miles east of Seattle.  I love animals, wine, HGTV and the Seahawks.  Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, visiting from Kelly's Korner. I'm in Duvall with 19 (almost 20) year old boy/girls twins. Two words for you -- Running Start!! Both did it at Cascadia and now my daughter will graduate at 20 this June from SPU. Son is training to be a commercial pilot. It is great to only have to pay for 2 years of college because we know that all of the comments about 2 for the price of 1 is a lie:)

Transfer Anniversary

Today is the 5-year anniversary of my embryo transfer!  5 years ago today I became pregnant with my girls (I wrote about it in more detail a few years ago).  It was a Saturday that year, also. Olivia and Kayley at 3 days post conception (wish I knew which one was which): And Olivia and Kayley 5 years later: That photo is actually a few weeks old.  I tried to take one for today and this is what I ended up with: {Sigh}

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

The Girls' Room

So it's kids' rooms this week at Kelly's Korner Home Tours.  Unfortunately, we haven't finished the girls' room make-over.  We recently transitioned from toddler beds to twins.  I would have loved to get bunk beds to save space, but the twin beds were given to us by friends of Paul's parents so we're making do.  They were wood-colored (oak, maybe?) so we painted them white.  It was challenging to figure out how to arrange their furniture because of the alcove/nook thingie on one side.  I couldn't do the obvious two beds perpedicular to the wall with a nightstand in between configuration, so I had to compromise. There are lots of finishing touches still to be done.  We need to replace their dresser, get a nightstand, put up a shelf (ledge) or two and some wall art, and curtains.  We're also going to paint.  I've had my heart set on purple for a long time, which is why I chose this bedding with some purple but not too much, but now...
