15 Months

I guess it's about time I actually post about the girls. They are 15 months now and discovering new things all the time. They officially know how to go down stairs, as well as up, so the other day we removed the baby gate for awhile and they were having a blast going up and down. It was quite liberating for us too, not having to step over it all the time (it's the pressure mounted kind, not the kind with a swinging walk-through gate). We still use it when we want to contain them to one floor or the other, but we no longer have to have it up 24/7.

Their other new thing is wanting to climb into and sit in the toy box or kitchen towel drawer. Sometimes they need help getting in or out, though, and it gets frustrating for us because many times as soon as they're in they want back out and vice versa. Make up your minds! And while they used to love bathtime and would play in the tub forever, now I can barely get them washed before they're trying to climb out. They just love to climb anything and everything!

A few weeks ago I was relieved to have them sleeping until 7:00 or 7:30 again. I thought it was going to be a regular thing but unfortunately it was short-lived. All this week Kayley has been back to waking up between 6:00 and 6:30. Sigh. Again, make up your mind please.

Lastly, Olivia has started to imitate me. She tries to sweep. It's so cute. Whenever she sneaks into the pantry (which is often--we keep the door closed but if I go in there for something she'll follow me in) she'll grab the wisk broom and start sweeping. She also tries to brush her hair (with a brush, not the wisk broom).

Soon we'll be going to Crescent Bar for the first of what will probably be 3 or 4 trips this summer so we'll be looking forward to watching them run all over and play in the grass and the baby pool. It will definitely be a lot different then when we were there last at the end of last summer!

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
