Holiday Traditions

Today I'm joining Amber and Neely's Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge where the topic is Favorite Holiday Traditions. Paul and I have enjoyed creating several Christmas traditions since we got married. First, we always watch Christmas Vacation sometime during the Thanksgiving weekend. Next, all 4 of us go to a local tree farm to select, cut down and purchase our Christmas Tree (aptly refered to as the Nelson Family Christmas Tree). We used to do this the Friday after Thanksgiving, but in the last few years we've waited until the first weekend in December. We spend most of the day the first Saturday in December getting our tree, putting it up and decorating it. We also put up our outside lights that weekend.

Last year we took the girls to see Santa for the first time, and that will become an annual tradition. Finally, we always take a drive around the neighborhood one evening to look at all the lights. And, of course, it wouldn't be the Christmas season without an eggnog latte from Starbucks!

One tradition I'm hoping to start this year is taking the girls to "Snowflake Lane" at the Bellevue Square Mall. They have a drum line and I don't remember what all else and I think there is fake snow or something.

I love these traditions and hope that we're making special memories for the girls.

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead. It's basically all one big room. I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002. It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture. The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah. Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether. But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week. On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps. Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs. Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5. OK, I probably didn't really gain 8. A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break. I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year. I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am. We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin? A lot has happened since I last blogged. The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses. We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer. We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th. We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out. Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.
