Summer Vacation Week 7 - 4 Bucket List Items and a Wedding

We had an awesome week.  Paul is still on vacation so we did a bunch of day trips and checked off several of my bucket list items.

On Monday Paul went hiking with a friend, so I was home with the girls all day and it felt like a normal work day.

Tuesday we went to the Ballard Locks and Golden Gardens Park.  We had lunch first at a really yummy burger place across the street from the locks, except Paul and I didn't have burgers, we had fish and chips which were also yummy.  The girls enjoyed watching boats go through the locks and seeing fish climb the fish ladder.

After the Locks we went to Golden Gardens Park to play on the beach.  They've added a playground since I was there last (way before the girls were born) so the girls played on that for awhile and then walked down to the beach to play in the sand.  It was an awesome day.

On Wednesday, we went to Lake Sammammish State Park.  Again, they played on the playground for awhile first, then we went to the lake and swam.  It was another hot day so it's been really nice to go places where we can cool off.

Thursday we went on a hike to Franklin Falls.  We actually meant to do the Denny Creek hike, but that trailhead was a little further up the road and we thought we were at the right one, but it was a great little hike nonetheless to a beautiful waterfall.

Friday we met some friends at Lake Tapps.  I've mentioned before that Paul's company has their own private campground and day use area of the lake, so we can go and enjoy the lake and playground and all without big crowds.  It's awesome.

Saturday was my niece's wedding.  They had the ceremony at the church (where we all grew up), then had the reception at the family farm (the farm my great-grandparents settled on and now my brother and sister-in-law live there).  It was a great wedding and the girls were on the dance floor the entire time (except to eat cake)!

Yesterday we stayed home and worked on a few projects around the house.  It felt good to get a few things done.

Paul has one more week off and then it's back to our normal routine.

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 or 4:30. After their nap

First Day of 10th Grade

Today was the first day of 10th grade for the girls.  Sophomores.  I can't believe we only have two more of these.  Not counting college, of course. Kayley Kayley again Olivia It has become my tradition to take the day before and the first day off.  Back in the elementary days, the day before the first day was "meet the teacher day", so I would always take them to that, then in middle school we would just go to lunch or get our nails done.  Last year was their first day of high school, though, so that day was orientation and that brings us up to this year.  The day before the first day is "Wildcat Day", which is mostly a freshman and new student orientation.  Olivia is in ASB so she had to go help with that, but Kayley didn't go.  Instead, her and I took some of her old clothes to this resale store called Plato's Closet to try and sell them (it's similar to a consignment shop except they just pay you then and there and then resell them, instead of o

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and we all took a day trip to Leavenworth. On Fe
