Halloween

Our Halloween started with a "Harvest" Party at school yesterday.  Parents were welcome so I went.  They did crafts, had Halloween-themed snacks and played some games.  It was fun.

Paul's parents came over for dinner and then they stayed at our house to give out candy while both Paul and I took the girls out trick-or-treating with a bunch of neighbors.  Usually I stay home to give out candy while Paul takes them, so it was fun to get in on the action this year.  We went to all the houses in our immediate vicinity and then drove up the street to another friend's house to see them and enjoy a super yummy pumpkin spice martini.  They didn't have school today so we didn't have to worry about getting them to bed on time, which was nice.

Carving pumpkins last weekend

They both wanted to be the same thing they were last year (cheetah for Kayley and Winx Club fairy for Olivia), so I didn't have to buy anything, which was great!  I'm so bad about getting pictures of stuff and they were so impatient, just wanting to go trick-or-treating already.  I wanted to get a picture of the 4 of us but it just didn't happen.  Paul took these first two and one is cute of Olivia but Kayley's being weird and the other one is cute of Kayley but Olivia is sitting with her legs wide open.  Sigh.

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
