28 Days

28 days until Christmas.  I don't think I've blogged since school started!  I've started several posts but never get around to finishing and posting them.  So between now and Christmas Eve I thought it would be fun to try and write everyday just a few sentences or paragraphs about what I/we did that day.  I've attempted similar in the past and never got very far but I want to try again anyway.  I may not actually post every day, I may just write something and then post something every three or four days or something like that.  We'll see.

Ideally, I would have started yesterday, being the day after Thanksgiving and the official start of the Christmas season and all, but I didn't think about it until today.

Yesterday we were still at Paul's mom's house.  We went there on Thanksgiving and then spent the night and helped her put up all her Christmas decorations and stuff on Friday (yesterday).  This was the first Thanksgiving since Paul's dad died, so it was difficult, but I think they still enjoyed themselves. I know she enjoyed having us there.  We helped her take down all the Thanksgiving decor and put up Christmas and then Paul took Kona for a walk while me, the girls and his mom went Christmas shopping.  Then we had leftovers for dinner and watched the Apple Cup (annual big rivalry game between the Washington Huskies and the Washington State Cougars).  They all root for the Cougars but I root for the Huskies and they lost but that's okay because they won the last seven or eight in a row.  After the game we came home and then we just kind of relaxed and watched a little TV and went to bed.

Today we put up our own Christmas tree and decorations.  Then me and the girls went out and did a little shopping while Paul just stayed home and walked Kona and watched a movie or something.  Then the girls all went to a friend's while Paul and I ate pizza and watched a movie.

Transfer Anniversary

Today is the 5-year anniversary of my embryo transfer!  5 years ago today I became pregnant with my girls (I wrote about it in more detail a few years ago).  It was a Saturday that year, also. Olivia and Kayley at 3 days post conception (wish I knew which one was which): And Olivia and Kayley 5 years later: That photo is actually a few weeks old.  I tried to take one for today and this is what I ended up with: {Sigh}

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

The Girls' Room

So it's kids' rooms this week at Kelly's Korner Home Tours.  Unfortunately, we haven't finished the girls' room make-over.  We recently transitioned from toddler beds to twins.  I would have loved to get bunk beds to save space, but the twin beds were given to us by friends of Paul's parents so we're making do.  They were wood-colored (oak, maybe?) so we painted them white.  It was challenging to figure out how to arrange their furniture because of the alcove/nook thingie on one side.  I couldn't do the obvious two beds perpedicular to the wall with a nightstand in between configuration, so I had to compromise. There are lots of finishing touches still to be done.  We need to replace their dresser, get a nightstand, put up a shelf (ledge) or two and some wall art, and curtains.  We're also going to paint.  I've had my heart set on purple for a long time, which is why I chose this bedding with some purple but not too much, but now...
