What's Up Wednesday - May 2026

It's the last Wednesday of the month which means it’s time for What's Up Wednesday, hosted by Shay and Sheaffer.

What We're Eating

I am typing this on Monday, and it's a holiday and I'm busy with cleaning/errands/projects (because what else are work holidays and weekends for?) so tonight we are keeping it very simple with frozen pizza and salad.  Tomorrow and Wednesday we have some Hello Fresh meals, Thursday will probably be spaghetti or tacos, Friday we will probably go out or get Thai take-out, and Saturday is game night at our friends', but it's also the Senior Car Parade, so we will miss the dinner portion of game night and probably just eat leftovers before heading over there.

What I'm Reminiscing about

The girls graduate in 17 days (15 when I publish this) so I've been reminiscing about them being little.

What I'm Loving

That all this senior stuff (prom, grad party, car parade, ceremony, grad night all-nighter, etc.) is almost over.

What We've Been up to

See last item, but also celebrating our 20th anniversary!

We went to dinner and Phantom of the Opera, and then went on a little get-a-way to Seabrook.

What I'm Dreading

The craziness of the next few weeks, but it will be fun as well.

What I'm Working on

Weight loss.  We have a bunch of fun trips planned in the next few years, plus my 40th high school reunion is next year, so yeah, need to get on that.

What I'm Excited About

Future travel.  I have been waiting for over 30 years to go to Europe, and it's finally going to happen, Lord willing, in 2027.  We are also planning a Panama Canal cruise for my 60th in 2029 and some smaller stuff in-between.

What I'm Watching/Reading

The thing I watch the most lately is the Big Bear Eagle Cam.

Other than that, I occasionally watch an episode of Shrinking or The Handmaid's Tale.

I am currently reading Daisy Jones and the Six.

What I'm Listening to

Nothing in particular, lots of different things.

What I'm Wearing

Jeans and tops to work, sweats and yoga pants at home, although it's getting warm enough to wear shorts here and there.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Game Night at a friends' and the girls' Senior Car Parade.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

Graduation and our grad trip to Costa Rica!

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
