Super Bowl Champions!

The Seahawks are Super Bowl Champions for the 2nd time ever!  We had a great time at our friends' house watching the game.  It was just them and us, so it was easy to actually watch the game, whereas usually when we're there for the SB the guys go upstairs to watch and the women gather downstairs and mostly talk and occasionally glance at the TV.

My love of the Seahawks started back in '82 when I was in 8th grade.  My parents were diehards and had season tickets but watched all the away (and some home) games at home.  So, I had been exposed since their inception in '76, but never cared or paid attention.  One day in 8th grade I just started watching and things started clicking.  I started to understand the concept of the four downs and it all started to make sense.  Then in '83 my parents got divorced, so I got to go to some of the games with either parent, usually my dad.  The seahawks were having a great season in '83, and I went to the last game of the regular season with my dad and if they won, they would make the playoffs for the first time ever.  They won!  And then they won the wildcard game.  And they won the divisional game.  And then they played the Raiders in the AFC championship game (they are in the NFC now but were in the AFC then).  If they won, they would have gone to the Super Bowl.  They had already beaten the Raiders twice during the regular season.  They lost.  GAH!!!!  THEY LOST!!!  Fast forward to 2005/2006 they finally made it for the first time.  Sadly, they lost.  They made it back in 2014 (2013 season) and won, and miraculously made it again the next year, but lost.  And now they finally made it again and won.  I'm so happy and proud.

As for their 2014 win, I was especially happy that my dad got to see them win one in his lifetime, as he was about to turn 79 at the time.  He is almost 91 now and lived to see a second win.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
