2025 Date Nights

A few years ago I decided to make it a thing that Paul and I have regular date nights. We decided that once a month would be ideal (well, I would love to have them weekly but that's not in the budget).  I ended up planning a bunch of them in advance, but not all.  Here is a year's worth of date nights:

January - my birthday month, so we had my birthday date at Finn's Bistro and then saw the play Dial M for Murder at the Village Theater.  It was our first time there even though we had lived here 17 years (at the time, 18 now).

In February, we had our Valentine's Day date at an Italian restaurant in a neighboring town.

March is Paul's birthday month.  We had his birthday date at a pub-ish type restaurant called The Black Duck Cask and Bottle.

April - Jazz Walk in North Bend.  I was actually supposed to be on a girls' trip to Phoenix the weekend this was taking place, but ended up not going due to cost (had recently helped each of our girls purchase a car, and was supposed to fly free but that fell through, so ended up not going and the Jazz Walk was a great alternative!

May - Anniversary date at another Italian restaurant that we had yet to try.

June - impromptu dinner at Pine Lake Ale House after missing my brother and sister-in-law’s 50th anniversary party due to freeway closure/traffic. We were stuck on I-405 for THREE HOURS!!!!  A section of it was closed and we failed to exit in time and got stuck in a huge backup.

July - The girls had their senior photo shoot, and when they finished at the first location and left to go to another location, we took off and drove around looking at cute mountain cabins, then stopping at a park and taking a walk on a trail.  Another impromptu sort-of date but not really.

August - I can’t remember if we really did anything in August. Our big family trip was this month and then we had a family gathering and another smaller trip so probably not.

Sept- can’t remember anything for September either. We might have gone out for Mexican or something, but nothing planned.

Oct - breakfast date at Wild Huckleberry while at Crescent Bar for painting

November - again, nothing I can recall. Will have to do better in 2026.

December-Elf at the 5th Avenue Theater and dinner at Yard House.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
