February So Far

Up until last Thursday I was so proud of myself for not having gotten sick yet, but then I finally did.  I felt awful on Thursday but couldn't take the day off because I was helping one of our newer employees with something that was due that day.  I probably could have just done that in the morning and taken the rest of the day, but I didn't. Then Friday I felt crappy again but for sure couldn't take that day off (I worked from home both days, though, so not infecting anyone else) because I was covering for someone on PTO.  Sigh.  By the time the weekend rolled around I was feeling a little bit better but still grateful to have those couple days to rest up.

Earlier in the week, before I got sick, I went to a Barre class with Olivia.  That was fun but really hard!  Well, for me anyway, as I'm not used to doing anything like that.  I walk a lot, and I'll do the occasional push-up or a few weights, but that's about it.  But I'm trying to change that.  We let Kayley have a gym membership instead of me for a while now, because I could never figure out when I'd go anyway, but now she has a membership at a different, cheaper gym so the plan is for me to take over her membership (I no longer need to cook dinner every night so I can actually find time to go).  Normally things like that aren't transferrable but Paul assures me this one is in this case, so we'll see.

This week my women's Bible study started back up and we're studying Isaiah.  I'm excited about that because it's such an important book and I really want to learn more about the Old Testament in general.

I'm so excited for the Olympics!  I'll be watching the opening ceremonies tonight.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
