Five Question Friday

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument?  Yes, I do.  I took piano lessons for something like 10 years and also played trumpet in band from 5th grade all the way through high school.  Yes, I was a band geek and proud of it.  Sadly, I no longer play either.  I'd love to have a piano but there just is no where to put one.  I do have an electronic keyboard that I bought used from an ex co-worker but I rarely bring it out.  The girls have a blast with it when I do, though, so I should play around with it more often.

 2. What is your pet peeve while driving?   Oooh...do I have to pick only one? I hate hate HATE when people don't signal! Ticks me off to no end. It's so inconsiderate and rude. Others include:

Merging onto the freeway at about 10 mph under the speed limit, driving under the speed limit period, driving too slow in the fast lane, and running red lights (especially when making left turns and holding up all the traffic because you're hogging the intersection).

 3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services?  Unlimited spa services!  As a SAHM, I have time to clean but no money for spas.

 4. Is there a song that you hear that will take you back to the moment, like a junior high or high school dance?  Journey's "Open Arms" always reminds me of dancing with my first boyfriend at our 8th grade graduation dance.  Pretty much anything 80s reminds me of either Junior High or High School.

5. What song best represents your life right now?  Hmmm.  I have no idea.  If there is a song out there about finally living the dream, that would be it.  I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed my single life and had so much fun, but my dream was always to get married, have a family and live in house with a yard in a subdivision.  It took 39 years but it finally happened!  Even if our "yard" is basically a narrow strip of grass.  It's fenced and big enough for the girls to run around in so it works.

Fellow trumpet player here! I actually got back into it a couple of years ago, before I got pregnant with the girls. I played two summers as part of a community concert band. We gave free concerts in the amphitheater in the park between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It was so much fun! At least it was fun for me...my hubby HATED how loud my practicing was! HA!

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 or 4:30. After their nap

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and we all took a day trip to Leavenworth. On Fe

First Day of 10th Grade

Today was the first day of 10th grade for the girls.  Sophomores.  I can't believe we only have two more of these.  Not counting college, of course. Kayley Kayley again Olivia It has become my tradition to take the day before and the first day off.  Back in the elementary days, the day before the first day was "meet the teacher day", so I would always take them to that, then in middle school we would just go to lunch or get our nails done.  Last year was their first day of high school, though, so that day was orientation and that brings us up to this year.  The day before the first day is "Wildcat Day", which is mostly a freshman and new student orientation.  Olivia is in ASB so she had to go help with that, but Kayley didn't go.  Instead, her and I took some of her old clothes to this resale store called Plato's Closet to try and sell them (it's similar to a consignment shop except they just pay you then and there and then resell them, instead of o
