Dining Out

This weeks Multiples and More Question of the Week is:  How do you handle taking your multiples out to restaurants?  Simple.  We don't.  Ha ha.  Ok, we do, just not very often.  But that's mostly because of the budget restraints that come with me being a SAHM.

How often do you take your children out to eat, and how old are they?  They are 2 years old and we take them out maybe once every 2 months or so.  Sometimes more.

Do you have any tricks for keeping them entertained?  They are usually just happy to be there, so we really don't have to employ any special tricks.  We do try to go early before they get too hungry.  And most places we go have crayons, so that works.

Which restaurants do you find are the most family-friendly?  Red Robin and our local mexican place (free rice and beans for kids!  At least for kids as young as ours).

How do you handle tantrums in restaurants?  They sometimes get a bit antsy toward the end and eager to get down and run around, but we've been lucky enough not to have had any full on tantrums--yet.  If we did, I would just remove the offender while my husband paid the bill and dealt with the other.  And if our meal had just started, we would either just wait for the tantrum to pass (outside) and hopefully resume our meal or if need be, get our food boxed up to go.

Do you ever venture out to restaurants without having extra adults to help out?  It's almost always just the 4 of us, so yes.

Do you think it's better to take your kids out to restaurants, and get them used to the experience, or refrain from eating out until they are old enough to understand the right way to behave?  I think it's important to expose them to different environments, including restaurants.

Be honest- do you pick up the cheerios?  Heck no.  But I am constantly picking up crayons, sippy cups, napkins, forks...

Hehe...sounds like we're in the same boat. Gotta love spending half the meal under the table picking stuff up. :)

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
