First Weekend of 2026

Saturday morning I sat with my coffee and admired the tree one last time before taking it and the rest of the Christmas decorations down.

We usually always do it on the 1st but didn’t quite get around to it this year. After spending most of the day taking down Christmas and putting the house back together, we went to the neighborhood Irish pub for dinner and to watch the Seahawks-49ers game (we don’t have cable so can only watch the games that are on Peacock or Prime). The Hawks won, securing the #1 seed and the NFC West title. Whoo-hoo!

Today (Sunday) we went to church, then I did some meal planning and laundry. I tried to take a nap but I have a bad hip and couldn't get comfortable.

Back to reality tomorrow. I haven't been off the entire time but I have worked somewhat sporadically since Christmas Eve, so tomorrow will be the start of the first normal work week in awhile.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year. I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it. It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods. So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break. I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year. I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am. We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin? A lot has happened since I last blogged. The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses. We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer. We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th. We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out. Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever. So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead. It's basically all one big room. I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002. It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture. The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.
