What's Up Wednesday

It has been ages since I have participated in the What's Up Wednesday link-up by Shay and Sheaffer, but here I am.

What We're Eating

I didn't want to have to cook on Sunday because of the game, so I made Taco Soup in the crock pot. Other meals this week include low-carb Chicken Alfredo, some ravioli thing that Paul picked up a Costco and not sure what else yet.

What I'm Reminiscing about
The Seahawks just won the NFC Championship and are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2015, so I've been reminiscing about their first Super Bowl win in 2014.

What I'm Loving
Up until a few months ago I had never heard of Dubai chocolate and now it's everywhere.  So yummy!

Also, the current Seahawks season.

What We've Been up to

What I'm Dreading
The girls are graduating from high school this year and heading to college in the fall, so I'm kind of dreading the tuition payments (times two!) and other expenses.

What I'm Working on
I've really struggled to have any kind of exercise routine since returning to work after my 6 years of being a stay-at-home mom, so I'm in the process of trying to get into a good exercise routine. It's so hard to find time!  My daily routine is work, cook dinner, clean up, walk the dog then wind down with a little TV or reading or phone games and then bed. And getting up at 4 or even 5 to workout before work is just never going to happen. But the girls are self-sufficient enough now (have been for quite a while) so I don't really need to cook dinner every night. I could use that time for exercise instead. Yesterday Olivia and I went to a Barre class together and it was great.  I just need to nail down a good routine.

What I'm Excited About
The girls' upcoming graduation and our trip to Costa Rica!

What I'm Watching/Reading
I recently started watching Shrinking and really enjoying it, and of course, Seahawks football.

And my current read:

What I'm Listening to
Nothing in particular.  A little bit of everything but nothing very current.  My favorite thing to listen to when I'm working from home is a Spotify channel called "Chill".  It's just mellow artsy/coffeehouse/indie/ singer/songwriter/pop stuff.  It's weird, because back in the day I was always up on all the latest music (other than rap or country).  I would know the title and artist of just about every song that came on the radio (back when I used to actually listen to the radio), but if I were to turn on a Top 40 station right now, I don't think I would recognize a single song. Or even if I did, I probably wouldn't know the title or artist.

What I'm Wearing
Nothing blog worthy.  Jeans and the warmest sweaters I have to work since it's usually freezing in the office, and yoga pants, leggings or sweats when WFH.

What I'm Doing This Weekend
On Saturday I'm going up to my hometown about an hour and a half away to visit my Dad and my best friend (separately).  Sunday will just be church and then probably a lot of cleaning but hopefully I fit in some relaxation and reading as well.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
The Seahawks in the Super Bowl!  Whoo-hoo!  Also, Olivia has a thing at WSU so we're going to go spend a few days at Crescent Bar (we have a rental condo there) since it's in-between.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
