Weekend Recap

I meant to post this Sunday or Monday or at least Tuesday, since Monday was a holiday anyway, but couldn't quite get around to it.

We had a great weekend.  On Saturday, we went to a wedding.  It was in a town about an hour and 40 minutes from where we live, but Paul's mom's is in-between, and he needed to go there anyway to help her put all her Christmas storage boxes away, plus the Seahawks game was on at 5:00, the wedding was at 2:00, so we weren't going to make it home in time, so it worked out great to just stop at her house after the wedding and watch the game there.  And what a game it was.  The Seahawks DESTROYED the 49ers 41-6! Looking forward to the NFC championship game on Sunday!

I loved the centerpieces at the wedding.  Every table had a small stack of books, with a candle/lantern thingie and lights.  They were so pretty.

After all that, it was nice to have Monday off.  I think I mostly just cleaned and maybe grocery shopped, but whatever.

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
