Show Us Your Life - Master Bedroom

Kelly's Korner is hosting home tours every Friday.  This week is Master Bedrooms.  Our Master was one of the first rooms we painted when we we first moved in 2 1/2 years ago (the other being the girls' room, and we just finally got around to painting the living and dining rooms).  I love the red wall, but the other walls were supposed to be a dark beige (Eddie Bauer Oatmeal) but ended up having an olive-y green tint that I wasn't expecting.  It must just be the lighting in there because we used the same color in the living/dining rooms and there's no green tint at all. Curtains are on the "to-do" list!  I have some (dark red), and a nice Pottery Barn rod, we just need to get around to hanging them! TV armoire and door to Master Bath I love the furniture.  It's from Dania and was our first major purchase together, a few months before our wedding.  I bought the bedding a year or two before we met, so it's been around 6 or 7 years and I'm start

The Mall

I rarely take the girls to the mall.  It's just such a pain to maneuver a double stroller even through the mall entrance, let alone any of the stores aisles.  But now that the girls are pretty much no longer napping, I'm finding it increasingly necessary to get out of the house more than usual. I mean, we were pretty much getting out most days anyway, if even just for a walk outside or to play in the yard, but we'd only go somewhere in the car maybe 3 out of the 5 weekdays.  I could actually still live with that, as long as we could still get outside on a walk or go to the park or whatever, but now that it's fall the weather doesn't always permit that.  So yesterday we did the indoor playground  and today (even though it was sunny) I figured the mall would be a good change of scenery, plus I needed to exchange some things anyway.  The girls really had fun playing at the play area and we got some really cute things for fall.  Them falling asleep on the way home prett

Weekly Weight Loss Update

So I finally got my act together this week.  I'm down 1.4 from last week and 2.6 from Monday, but Monday's weigh-in was post splurg-y weekend and pre-menstrual.  Anyway, I'm still only down 2 pounds from my original start weight, not 3 like my ticker says.  Hopefully I can keep things moving in a positive direction for awhile.  This week's workouts (9-10 through 9-17): Monday - Week 1, Day 1 of C25K Tuesday - 30DS Level 1 Wednesday - Week 1, Day 2 of C25K plus an extra 15 minutes of walking on the treadmill (would have been 20 but I had to pee!) Thursday - 30DS Level 2 Today (planned)- Week 1, Day 3 of C25K plus an extra 15-20 minutes of walking on the treadmill Much improved from the last few weeks.  My goal for this week is to lose 1.2 and complete week 2 of C25K.

C25K

Way back in my single days I used to love to walk around Greenlake for exercise.  I walked on treadmills at the gym and around my neighborhood, too, but every so often on a nice day I'd drive down to Greenlake and walk the 3-mile path.  I once decided that I would love to one day be able to run it.  I had never been a runner, and had never had much interest in running until a friend kind of turned me on to it.  I got to where I could run a mile, or a little more, but it was very difficult.  And one day on the treadmill at the gym I actually ran two whole miles without stopping.  I was so proud.  But it was a one-time thing, and I never kept working at it long enough to actually build up to 3 miles.  When Paul and I were dating, we would meet at Greenlake every Tuesday and walk it together and we'd run some but I of course couldn't run the whole thing but it made me want to build up to it all over again.  Then we got married, moved, had the girls, etc. and we never go to Gr

End of Summer

We had a great weekend at Crescent Bar with some friends.  The weather was great and the girls had so much fun playing with Lindsay (our friends' 4-year-old daughter).  It was nice to have one last little getaway before summer is officially gone.  One last swim in the pool, one last boat ride. Yesterday we took the girls to the fair and it was so much fun.  They loved all the animals and got their first taste of carnival rides.  They rode a kiddie roller coaster and a few others and they had a blast.  They were so cute.  I wish we would have taken the camera but we didn't. Now I'm ready for fall and football!  The Seahawks won their season opener, which is rare, and I'm really hoping they will be vastly improved this year.  Fingers crossed...

Still the Same

I'm exactly the same today as last Friday, which is fine since I didn't really try this week at all (plus I ate lots of salty popcorn last night so I might actually be a tiny bit less).  I went to the gym Tuesday and Wednesday but haven't done much else.  I did forget to mention in last week's update that I had done the 30 Day Shred the previous Friday, so there was actually 3 workouts, not just 2.  Anyway, this week there really is only 2, unless I manage to get a walk or the Shred in today which is unlikely because I have to go to Costco and then I have to pack for Crescent Bar.  But since I probably won't even bother putting the girls down for a nap today I probably can fit it in (a walk), so we'll see.  It takes a really long time to pack everything for me and the girls plus food and what-not when they're not napping, so I'll do my best.  If I'm having a hard time getting everything done there's always the TV (ha ha)... Anyway, I'm all

Miscellaneous

Today is the 3rd day in a row that at least one, if not both, of the girls hasn't/haven't napped.  I'm not particularly liking this tread.  There was a phase about a year ago where Kayley would not nap maybe 2 days a week, then for the last several months she's been great.  Then a couple months ago Olivia started skipping the occasional nap.  But neither of them ever missed two days in a row.  Now we're going on three days for Kayley and two out of three for Olivia.  Not good.  I'm scared to think this might really be the end of naps.  Ugh. In other news, we've stepped up the potty training.  We've started issuing stickers on a chart on the fridge every time they go.  It seems to be helping a bit.  I just really need to be more consistent about taking them to the bathroom at least every hour, but it's so hard when you're either out and about or just busy around the house. This weekend we're taking one last trip to Crescent Bar with some f

Right on Schedule

I'm 3 or so weeks into this weight loss effort and just like always, have totally fallen off the wagon this week.  It started with me re-weighing on Saturday and being up just a tiny bit (like 0.2 or something).  Then I was really good all weekend and kept weighing every day because I wanted to see that number return to what it had been on Friday, but it never did.  So by Tuesday I got really discouraged and have been bad ever since.  Also, I kept having other things to do in the evenings instead of making it to the gym.  Like, Thursday night I had to go buy a new coffee pot because mine stopped working, and obviously I needed one for Friday morning,  So anyway, it's been a bad week on the diet/exercise front and I'm up 2 1/2 pounds.  Grrr. Anyway, I'll try to recover after this weekend.  Last night I had dinner and drinks with friends and today we went to a wedding (cake!), so hopefully tomorrow I can turn things around.  Next weekend we're going to Crescent Bar
