First Camping Trip

We've been waiting for the girls to be potty trained to attempt camping with them.  I just couldn't imagine dealing with diapers and such when the nearest hot water and soap is a long (or at least a lot longer than at home) walk away (no motor home for us, we rough it all the way, sort of.  I do insist on having a real bathroom with showers).  So this weekend we finally gave it a go.  And after about the umpteenth trip to the restroom I decided it just might have been easier when they were younger and in diapers.  I don't know how many times I would have to go, so I'd ask the girls if either of them had to go potty.  Of course they didn't, but the second I got back one would have to go.  Then as soon as I got back with her the other would have to go.  Grrr.  And a couple times me and Olivia both had to go but Paul wasn't around to watch Kayley so she'd have to come with us but she'd keep saying, "I don't need to go potty!" over and over and

Disgusted

I haven't talked weight loss in awhile, mainly because there's none to talk about!  After having an awesome May, losing 9.2 pounds, including 2 while on vacation in Hawaii, I have since gained most of it back.  Last I knew, anyway, I had gained back around 6, and I'm not sure if I've gained any more or not because I'm too scared to weigh myself.  For some reason I have just been horrible since early June and I can't seem to get back on track.  So today I'm hoping to make a fresh start.  I'm just so disgusted, once again, that I let this happen.  Before the 9 pound loss I was struggling for the longest time with just losing and regaining the same 3 or 4 pounds over and over.  I never gained 6, just 3 or 4, every time.  Why couldn't I have only gained 3 or 4 this time, instead of 6?  Then I would still be down 5 or 6 instead of only 3 or less.  Grrr. Also, while I've still been exercising fairly regularly, I haven't really been running very mu

Vacation and Date Night

This summer is just flying by!  I can't believe it's almost August.  We spent last week at Crescent Bar, the 2nd of 3 trips there this summer.  As always, it was really fun but the best part was leaving the girls with Grandma and Grandpa overnight for a romantic getaway to the Cave B Winery and Inn.  We did some wine tasting, took a dip in the pool, had dinner, drank wine on our balcony and just had a wonderful, relaxing time.  We rarely go on date nights so this was a big splurge and really special. Folding doors between the tub and the rest of the room The pool The main lodge and restaurant and some grapes The rest of the week was a typical week at CB-lots of swimming and laying by the pool, several boat rides to various beaches to hang out and let the kids play in the sand, etc.  It did rain one day, which is unusual for this time of year, but for the most part it was hot and sunny and much better than here at home. The girls are really getting brave in the pool

SUYL- How We Told Our Families

It's been awhile since I've participated in Kelly's Korner 's Show Us Your Life Fridays.  Today's topic is how we shared with our husbands and families that we were pregnant. Paul and I found out together.  Actually, he cheated and found out about 2 seconds before me.  We had done IVF in June of 2007 and our beta (blood test at the RE's office) was scheduled for July 5th.  I definitely wanted to test at home before that, but had a hard time deciding on the best time to do that.  I didn't want to test the day before, on the 4th, because the July 4th holiday and the party we were going to would have been ruined by a negative result.  I didn't want to test the morning of the 3rd (a Tuesday) or the 2nd (Monday) because I had to work and wouldn't have been able to if I got a negative result.  And anytime before then would have been too early (although I'm pretty sure I would have gotten a positive result on Sunday the 1st if I would have been brave

4th of July Weekend

We spent the weekend at Crescent Bar and had a fabulous time.  The girls got to swim in the "big" pool for the first time, now that they're potty trained.  They are really getting brave, putting their faces in the water, jumping in and being thrown in the air and going under.  They'll be swimming like fish by the end of summer. On Sunday we marched in the little parade that they do every year, and then the girls somehow managed to stay up for the fireworks show that night, despite Kayley having been up until almost midnight the night before (due to a long, late afternoon nap) and getting up at 8:00 AM and having no nap.  She is a freak of nature, that one. Yesterday we had a late breakfast, hung by the pool, took a boat ride and then ate an all-american 4th meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato and macaroni salads, baked beans and chips.  Yum. All decked out for the parade Tuckered out
