Spring 2014

It seems I'm now on a once-a-quarter-or-so blog schedule.  I am really behind.  So here's what's been going on the last few months.

The girls had a thing at school, "The Three Piggy Opera".  It was mostly singing but there were a few kids that said a few lines, and it was obviously the story of the Three Little Pigs.  It was all of the Kindergarten classes combined, and most of them just stood on the risers and sang.  They were the "piggy opera" and had pig faces made out of pink paper plates.  It was so cute.  Unfortunately, my phone battery died so I only got 2 pictures and no video.

For Easter we went to church first then headed to Paul's parents house where they had their 2nd egg hunt, the first of which was the day before at their Girl Scout leader's house (also the house of one of their best friends).

I've been at my new job for a little over a month now.  It's going well but it's hectic getting everyone ready in the mornings, making lunches the night before, etc. (although now we have a babysitter coming to the house so I no longer have to make lunches, but for awhile they were going to an after school program).  Especially since I can't get there until a little after 9:00 (after putting the girls on the bus around 8:30) so I don't get home until 6:15-6:30 or sometimes close to 7:00 if I have to make a stop for milk or something.  I have Wednesdays and Fridays off which is a total lifesaver as I'm able to get things done around the house while the girls are at school (although they only go to school every other Friday).

Anyway, we  took the girls to Disneyland!  It was really fun.  The first day was kind of hard but it got better.  We left Wednesday the 30th, and Thursday the 1st was or first day at the park.  It was really hot that day so we were pretty miserable, especially Kayley.  She was obsessed with meeting Elsa and Anna (from Frozen) and getting their signature but we didn't want to wait for over 2 hours in the 95 degree heat.  We tried to explain that we would be back in a few more days and it will be much cooler and we can get it then, but she had to have it NOW.  She was really tired from getting up really early the day before (to go to the airport) and between that and the heat and the obsession with the autographs she was really whiny and wouldn't go on any rides.  So Paul and I ended up taking turns waiting the 2 1/2 hours and they finally met Anna and Elsa and all was right with the world again, and the rest of the day she was fine.

Oops, upside down.  Anyway...

The next day we went to California Adventure, Saturday we just stayed at the hotel and swam, Sunday we went to Sea World, Monday was back at Disneyland and Tuesday was back at California Adventure where we did a character lunch at Ariel's Grotto.  They had Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty).  The girls loved that.

And while we were there, Kayley lost her first tooth!

On May 13th Paul and I celebrated our 8th anniversary.  We didn't do anything, seeing as how we just spent a ton of money at Disneyland.  We just gave each other cards and watched our wedding video, which is always bittersweet because my nephew is in it and he committed suicide a week later :(

I think that pretty much covers the last few months.  It's hard to believe there are only like 16 or 17 more days of school and my babies will soon be off to FIRST grade!

Luther Burbank Park

Last summer a friend of mine introduced me to this cool park on Mercer Island.  When we went, we only played at the swimming beach and never explored the rest of the park or played on the playground.  So yesterday, we finally went back with a picnic lunch and checked out some more of the park (there's still another section we didn't get to, so maybe next time).  The playground was really cool with all sorts of nooks and cranies, and old-fashioned metal slides and ladders.  They girls loved it. View from our picnic spot A pyramid with slides on the other side Lake Washington beyond Chair swings--never seen these before I-90 bridge over Lake Washington Trail along the lake leading to the swimming beach Should have brought swimsuits.  They were SO sandy and wet coming home.

First Day of 10th Grade

Today was the first day of 10th grade for the girls.  Sophomores.  I can't believe we only have two more of these.  Not counting college, of course. Kayley Kayley again Olivia It has become my tradition to take the day before and the first day off.  Back in the elementary days, the day before the first day was "meet the teacher day", so I would always take them to that, then in middle school we would just go to lunch or get our nails done.  Last year was their first day of high school, though, so that day was orientation and that brings us up to this year.  The day before the first day is "Wildcat Day", which is mostly a freshman and new student orientation.  Olivia is in ASB so she had to go help with that, but Kayley didn't go.  Instead, her and I took some of her old clothes to this resale store called Plato's Closet to try and sell them (it's similar to a consignment shop except they just pay you then and there and then resell them, instead of o

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 or 4:30. After their nap
