Friday Weight Update

I'm down another pound, which is good considering I only just got back on track on Tuesday.  I really hope to have a much better September than August.  I'd love to have just one month with a 5+ pound loss, but really as long as I lose at least 2.5 per month (which for me means losing 3 or 4 by mid-month and not gaining back more than a pound or two by the end of the month) I'll reach my goal in time for our Hawaii trip in May.  Currently I am: 11.2 lbs. over wedding weight 1 lb. under pre-pregnancy weight 7.8 lbs. over lowest post-baby weight My current mini-goal is to lose 5.2 pounds by October 1st.  Here are my workouts for 8-20 through 8-26: Friday - 30 Day Shred Saturday - Nothing Sunday - Nothing (unless shopping counts) Monday - Nada (although, I did tons of walking at the zoo) Tuesday - 30 Day Shred Wednesday - 30-minute walk with the girls, 45 minutes on the treadmill Thursday - 30 Day Shred

Zoo

Paul had the day off so we took the girls to the zoo yesterday.  We had a much better time than when we went back in May.  The weather was way better so we stayed longer and got to see and do more.  The girls even got their first carousel ride, which they loved.  They were the only pictures we took because we were having problems with the camera, and they're either too glare-y or dark, but whatever.

Slacking

It's been a bad week as far as healthy eating and exercise goes.  I was out of town last weekend so that always throws me off.  Then since Paul was off on Monday and we were out and about, the bad eating and lack of exercise extended an extra day, and then I just had a hard time getting motivated to get back on track.  For some reason, whatever I do on Monday seems to set the precedence for the rest of the week.  I don't know why I can't just pick up on Tuesday but I never can. So I was a bit scared to weigh in this morning, worried that I'd gained, but luckily I'm the exact same as last Friday.  Whew.  Here's my pathetic workout log for the week: Monday - Swimming in Lake Tapps, but not nearly enough to qualify as a workout Wednesday - 30 minutes on the treadmill That's it!  Other than several walks to the park and lots of cleaning on Tuesday.  I'm planning on doing the 30 Day Shred today and maybe a good walk as well.  Hopefully I'll have a

The Last Few Days

We've had a really fun few days.  We spent the weekend up in MV/Burlington and got to see some family and my dear friend Kristen.  We started out with a playdate with the girls' 2nd cousins (their mom is my niece).  It was the first of 3 really hot days (preceeded and followed by some fairly hot ones) so when we got there Taylor was already in her wading pool waiting for us.  But after going through the trouble of getting the girls into their swim diapers and suits and slathering on the sunscreen, they only played outside for 5 or 10 minutes before wanting to go inside and scope out all Taylor's toys.  Sigh. The next day we met Kristen at a spray park.  Unfortunately, Kayley wanted nothing to do with it (and she's the one that will stay all day in the kiddie pool at Crescent Bar, whereas Olivia likes it for awile but then wants to get out).  At least Olivia had a fun time.  But since Kayley wasn't interested, we decided to move on to the Children's Museum (ahh

On My Own

Paul went camping/hiking with a friend this weekend so I'm on my own with the girls.  I've never been alone with them overnight, let alone a whole weekend.  I decided I should use the opportunity to head up north to visit some friends and family, so that's what we're doing.  We'll leave at naptime and make the 1 1/2 hour trip up to my niece's for a playdate with the girls' 2nd cousins, Taylor, 3, and Skyler, 5 months.  Then we'll go out to dinner with my mom and a girlfriend or two and then those friends will come to my mom's to play and visit.  Tomorrow we will go out to breakfast with my mom, my dad and step-mom (they all get along), and one of the above-mentioned friends.  After breakfast, we'll have to come up with something to do for awhile because I don't want to head home until naptime (so they can sleep in the car), so I'm thinking maybe Chuck E. Cheese, since they have one up there and there isn't one close to where we live.

Progress Report

I'm down 2 pounds.  I was actually hoping for a little more since it's only week 1 (any other week and I'd be ecstatic with a 2-pound loss) but I think I ate a little too much chocolate yesterday, plus I didn't make it to the gym because Paul was busy mowing the lawn and packing for his hiking trip this weekend so I was in charge of the girls.  Yep, Paul left this morning and won't be back until Sunday evening.  Yiikes.  I've never been alone with the girls for that long.  I sure hope they nap! Anyway, on to my workouts this week (8/7 to 8/12): Saturday - treadmill (37 minutes) Monday - 30 Day Shred, 23-minute walk outside with girls in the stroller Tuesday - treadmill (45 minutes) Wednesday - 25-minute walk outside with girls in the stroller, Elliptical (12 minutes), weights (20 or 25 minutes), treadmill (10 minutes) Friday - Not sure yet, planned to Shred this morning but never got to it, hopefully will walk after the girls' nap This weekend I wi

Bad Habit

I've gotten in this bad habit where I let the girls watch 30 or so minutes of TV first thing every morning so I can get on the computer because, well, I'm a total FB/Farmville/blog (reading others') addict.  But then if they watch a little more after lunch (they usually watch the Elmo's World part of Sesame Street about then) and then again after dinner (while we clean up, etc.) it's getting to be too much.  So yesterday I started a no-morning-TV kick (I can still watch the Today Show but I'm playing with them while I watch, or at least in the same room).  But today Kayley was so whiny (just in general, not whining to watch TV) that I broke down and let them watch Dora (On Demand) so I could still do my computer stuff.  I guess I was hoping I could still get on the computer some days (I didn't yesterday.  I just played with them) without having them watch TV and they'd just play and leave me be, but this morning it didn't work out that way.  We'

Recommitment

Today I am recommiting to my diet and exercise regiment.  I'm so disgusted.  When we went to Crescent Bar the first time for the 4th of July I fought so hard to not gain weight, because I always do when we go there, and for once I was successful!  I even lost like 0.4 pounds.  But instead of continuing the healthy habits once home, where it's easier , I totally fell off the wagon and have now gained 4 1/2 pounds since.  Of the 8 pounds I lost at the beginning of the year I have now gained back 7.  Grrr... So, now that all our little trips are over it's time to get serious.  We are going to Hawaii in May for our 5th anniversary so my goal is to lose at least 23 pounds by then.  That's 9 months away, so that's only 2.5 pounds a month.  I so should be able to do that, but we'll see. I'm off to a good start (so easy to say on Day 1!).  I did the 30 Day Shred followed by a 23-minute walk with the girls (that's just how long it takes to walk to the end of

Layout

I just realized that my blog background was totally gone.  So I tried to get a new one and it didn't work.  So I tried a different one from a different site and that didn't work, either.  So I grabbed this one from blogger just as a temporary fix, until I can figure out how to get a decent one to work.  Grrr...I really hate when you follow directions for something and do everything it says and it still doesn't work.

Vacation, Part 2

Yesterday marked the end of Paul's 3 week vacation.  We returned from 9 days at Crescent Bar, where the girls had so much fun playing in the kiddie pool everyday, riding in the boat and playing in the sand.  I actually came home on Tuesday just to have some time to myself to shop and work on projects or whatever, and it was bliss, but not nearly enough time!  I actaully spent a good portion of it doing housework of all things, because it had really taken a backseat during this on-the-go vacation and I didn't want to have to do it this weekend.  So I didn't even get to touch some of the other projects I have on my plate.  I really need like, a whole week, but I'll take what I can get, plus I would miss my girls way too much.  Anyway, after 9 days (minus the quick trip home) I was ready to come home and get back into our normal routine, and I think the girls were, too.  But it's definitely been a fun few weeks. Sandy butt Now that we're home and back to
