Goals for March

Every year I make a New Year's Resolution to lose weight, and most years I start off pretty well, but this year I just can't get anything going at all.  So I'm hoping to turn that all around starting tomorrow.  These are my goals for the month of March:
  • lose 5 pounds
  • record everything that I eat every day for the entire month (either here or just on paper)
  • backtrack to week 5 of C25K and do it 3 days a week, consistently
  • be more consistent with healthy eating (which I'm hoping #2 will help me with)
  • blog about my efforts at least once a week, maybe more, for accountability.
As for C25K, I had worked back up to week 7 (running for 25 minutes) after falling off the wagon around the holidays but then I got really inconsistent and for the last few weeks I've just been alternating like 5-10 minutes of running with 5 minutes of walking or so, excpet I did run for 20 minutes once last Monday or Tuesday but then I haven't been to the gym since because of snow.

I really need to get serious because we're down to just 2.5 months until we go to Hawaii!

You can do it. I think 5 lbs is a good goal. Attainable! I'm working on the same type of thing. After two years, I feel a bit guilty blaming the extra weight on my girls. :) I've been running 1.5 miles 4 times a week. It's hard, but it feels so good when your done. I have it bump it up to 2 miles here soon and I'm dragging my feet. I'm headed to Florida in about a month and need to fit into at least one pair of my shorts! I feel your Hawaii pains. :) Good luck!

I use www.myfitnesspal.com to log my meals (I have an app for my phone) - you put in your current weight, and how much you want to lose and it calculates your daily caloric intake, then you put in what you eat during the day and it deducts the calories and gives you stats on the nutritional make up of what you've eaten. However, if I didn't have it on my phone I think I wouldn't use it nearly as much. I try to log my food before I eat it, and that helps me decide on my portion size and helps me pace myself so that I don't run out of calories mid-day. Hope this helps!

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 ...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
