Summer Vacation: Weeks 5 and 6

I know it's cliche (pretend there's a little ' above the "e"-don't know how to put one there) but Summer is flying by.  I think we're about half way through our summer break!  I'm still trying to keep a week-by-week record so I can look back and see what all we did and when.  Silly, maybe, but fun for me.

Week 5

We spent the weekend after the 4th at Crescent Bar, then on Monday the 8th Paul and I came home, leaving the girls there for the week with their grandparents.  Paul still had to work, so I had 3 days to myself to do whatever.  Like usual I was hoping to accomplish all sorts of projects around the house but just didn't quite get to it.  Tuesday I went to the mall and the grocery store, and because I got kind of a late start, by the time I got back it was dinnertime.  On Wednesday I drove up to Everett to have lunch with my former boss and visit some of my old co-workers.  It was so fun to see them again.  When I got back I had a hair appointment and again it was dinnertime by the time I did all that.  Thursday I had to take the car to Les Schwab to get a tire looked at/fixed (turns out there was a small nail in it) and I ran some other errands and started packing for our Idaho trip.  So that was my 3 days.  Not quite what I had hoped, but still some nice alone time.

Week 6

Family vacation to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho/Silverwood Theme Park (see separate post to follow).

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 or 4:30. After their nap

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and we all took a day trip to Leavenworth. On Fe

One of Those Really Hard Days

Today was free pastry day at Starbucks.  I wasn't going to pass that up!  When we got there and I went to put Olivia in the stroller she threw a fit and wouldn't have anything to do with it.  I hate that I can't just walk in there with them on foot but a) they'd be off in two different directions once we got inside and b) I can't hold both their hand plus my hot beverage to walk back to the car.  So, I have to use the stroller just to go into Starbucks for a latte.  One of the reasons I hardly ever go (the other being we can't afford $4.00 lattes very often).  Anyway, not wanting to cause a scene, I decided just to carry her while I pushed Kayley in the stroller.  So there I was, pushing one in a double stroller while carrying the other, and trying to get through the doors of Starbucks.  It's hard enough just pushing the double-wide stroller through the doors (I have to pull it, actually, while using my body to open one door and my free hand to open the othe
