Summer Vacation Week 1

I enjoyed documenting every week of our summer break last year so I've decided to do the same thing again this year.  It's amazing how fast it goes and this year's summer break is about a week and half shorter so will go even faster.  Unfortunately, it will likely be less fun since I am now working 3 days a week and won't be able to do as much with the girls as in years past.

So, the first week of summer break was really only a half week.  Monday and Tuesday (the 16th and 17th) were the last two days of school.  Wednesday was my day off and I had hoped to do something fun with the girls, like the splash park or something, but the weather wasn't quite hot enough, and I needed to pack for Crescent Bar, so we just hung around home, I packed and they played with friends.  Thursday I worked while Paul was home with them, and after dinner we took off for Crescent Bar.  We spent the weekend there and came home Sunday afternoon.

The girls spent hours making rubber band bracelets with their CB friends, and made this awesome fort with a belly dancer hip scarf thing as a "doorbell".

First Snow of 2025

Yesterday it snowed for the first time this year.  I love when it snows when I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and admire it.  It snowed more today, and we took Kona out for a walk in the woods.  So pretty.

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...
