What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday, normally hosted the last Wednesday of the month by Shay, Mel and Sheaffer was postponed until today due to Hurricane Harvey.  Continued prayers to the victims.

What we’re eating this week
Homemade pizza, crock-pot chicken tacos, and tri tip roast from Costco.  Tonight we are going out to a restaurant that donates 20% of your bill to the girls' school on the first Wednesday of every month.

What I’m reminiscing about
Now that school has started, I've been reminiscing about being a stay-at-home mom.  Every morning on our drive to school I see moms walking with their kiddos and wish I could be one of them, not to mention my constant daydreaming about all the stuff I could be doing while they are at school.  And I wish I could be home at a reasonable time so we could eat dinner together as a family and just be there when they get home.  Sigh.

What I’m loving
This concealer.
My neighbor became a Younique consultant awhile back so I've had a few online parties and have tried many of their products and I love them, but they are pricey.  But this concealer is the only concealer I've ever used that actually works.  It's awesome!

What we’ve been up to
Getting ready for school and soccer which both started last week.

What I’m dreading
Making lunches every night for the next 9 1/2 months and just the busyness of the school year.  But I think it will be better this year because the girls will be involved in fewer activities.

What I’m working on
Organization (always) and meal planning.  I'm really trying to be better about planning and preparing meals ahead so the girls don't have to rely so heavily on mac and cheese, ramen and chicken nuggets.  Which they still will because they don't like anything else.  Or at least Kayley doesn't.  Olivia is pretty good.

What I’m excited about
My work group moving to a new location 5 minutes from home.  Future post on that topic forthcoming!

What I’m watching/reading
Seinfeld reruns and:

I went to high school with the star of Person of Interest, Jim Caviezel (best know as Jesus in "Passion of the Christ").  I've always tried to watch all of his movies but in the last several years I've dropped the ball, and for some reason I've never bothered to check out this show until recently.  It's really good!

As for reading, I'm current reading In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner.

What I’m Listening to
Nothing in particular.  Just the radio to and from work.

What I’m doing this weekend
Watching the girl's first soccer game and the first regular season Seahawks game.  Go Hawks!

What I’m looking forward to next month
Fall!  Football!  Much cooler weather!

What else is new
We got a puppy!  Separate post to follow.  Someday.

And for this month's bonus question, which I always forget, what are my best lunchbox ideas and tips:  Easy.  Search Pinterest!  I see so many great ideas on there but most of it my kids won't eat anyway, so I make like 3 things all the time: turkey sandwiches (meat, cheese and white bread only), bagels with cream cheese, or noodles with butter and cheese.  Every once in a while Olivia will have peanut butter and jelly or a roll-up/pinwheel of some sort, and they used to buy lunch every Wednesday because it's breakfast food but I don't think they are going to this year.  But the good news is they are starting to help me make their lunches, if not making them themselves sometimes.  Yay!

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 ...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
