Good Weekend

So I missed a few days of my 25 days of blogging.  Oh well, it was inevitable.

I had been looking forward to this weekend even more than I normally look forward to weekends (which is obvioulsy A LOT) because after a few pretty busy ones we have absolutely nothing going on and I have a new project I started last weekend and couldn’t wait to continue.  I am pretty good about purging my closet a few times a year and donating clothes I don’t wear anymore and what-not, but there are several household items in all parts of the house that I’ve been holding onto thinking that I will get around to using them or selling them but I never do, so my new project that I started last weekend and am going to continue over the next several weekends is going through every. Single. Room. In the entire house and getting rid of absolutely EVERYTHING that we don’t want or use.  Last weekend I did the master closet, Friday evening I did the linen closet and yesterday I did the master bathroom and my bedside table (and Paul did his and his portion of the master closet).  I still have a long ways to go but I'll do a little more today and just keep doing a little every weekend until I've gone through the entire house.

Friday night the girl's school had a Winter Bazaar. The girls and I went and did a little Christmas shopping.  Then one of their friends came home with us for a sleepover, but she ended up going home at midnight (she lives just a few houses away) because she couldn't fall asleep.  But she came back in the morning for breakfast and played some more.

Yesterday afternoon I took a break from my project to take Kona for a walk.  The weather lately has been gorgeous.  A little cold, but sunny.  We walked on some trails around our neighborhood and it was so nice.

It hard to snap a picture while holding your phone and a leash attached to a moving dog in one hand

After dinner we decided last minute to drive around and look at Christmas lights.  We do that every year, but this was pretty short because the girls were going to a friend's to watch a movie, so we will go out again next weekend and do it right

Today the girls get to go visit a friend who moved away in June but is in town visiting other friends.  That means that Paul and I can watch the Seahawks game in peace.  Except I'm still going to be working on my purging project and hopefully wrapping gifts.

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 ...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
