Kindergarten Orientation

Today we had Kindergarten Orientation at the girls' new school.  They have 3 friends from our neighborhood that are all in their class.  They are so excited.  They got to meet their teacher, see their classroom, meet the principal, see the music room, gym and office, and play on the playground.  Olivia, Savannah, Kayley Then tonight our neighbor's had a s'mores party for all the neighbor kids entering Kindergarten next year (or at least the one's that they know pretty well and have regular contact with).  Paul took them but I couldn't go because I already had plans for a long overdue girl's night out.  I was bummed to miss the s'mores party but I had a great time out with girlfriends with awesome food and drink. Next week is their LAST week of preschool.  Bittersweet.  More on that in another upcoming post.

Weigh-in Wednesday - Up and Down

So 2 weeks ago I skipped my weigh-in because of slacking off and then last week I skipped the weekly post altogether.  But I've since turned things around and am back on track. I've logged 2 good work outs so far this week.  On Monday I did C25K week 3 day 1 plus extra walking to equal 30 total minutes of cardio and then I did chest, shoulders and triceps.  Yesterday I did day 2 of C25K week 3 and legs.  Paul will be getting home later than usual for the rest of this week so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate so that I can just walk/run outside, as I won't have time to go to squeeze in the gym before dinner with him getting home later, or I could go after dinner but I don't really like to. So, after losing 7 pounds in April, I have since gained 8 (that's right-EIGHT) and lost 5.  OK, I probably didn't really gain 8.  That's what the scale said last Thursday but the very next day I was down 2.6 or 2.8 or something, so wh...

Summer Bucket List

I'm having mixed feelings about it being almost summer.  On one hand, I love summer and I'm looking forward to all the fun stuff we have planned, but on the other hand I'm sad about losing my 2.5 hours 3 days a week to run errands or work on projects once preschool is done.  But come September, I will have FOUR hours, 5 days a week (except every other Friday), so I think I can survive.

Aruba Honeymoon

7 years ago today our honeymoon in Aruba was coming to an end.  When we got married I wasn't blogging yet so last year on our anniversary I did a post about our wedding and meant to do our honeymoon also but never got around to it, so I've decided to finally do one this year. During our week in Aruba, we mostly just hung out on the beach or by the pool, but we did do a snorkeling trip, a horseback ride, a "booze cruise", and a drive around the entire island. About 3 days into our stay, we discovered that our hotel room had its own private terrace upstairs ("Huh...I wonder where these stairs go...Oh!  Look at this!), complete with a BBQ and food prep area and a hot tub.  We never did use the hot tub because it was just too hot except for maybe really late at night and then we were tired. Iguana by our pool Not our hotel, but nice pool Waterfall in front of some other hotel Setting out on a horseback ride Swimming hole w...

Weigh-in Wednesday

I'm totally skipping my weigh-in this week since I've been horrible with diet and exercise, what with our little weekend trip/Mother's Day/Anniversary and all.  I was going to be super good this week and through the weekend on up until next Wednesday and then hope my weight was as least the same if not a little less than my last weigh-in, but I have yet to really get back on track, although I haven't been that bad.  I restarted C25K week 3 on Monday since I only did it once last week and will do day 2 tonight. I've been looking through our wedding and honeymoon photos the last few days, like I always do around our anniversary, and it makes me so sad to see how I used to look compared to now.  I'm up about 23, 24, 25 (depending on the day) pounds since then.  And I swore I wasn't going to be one of those women who let themselves go once they got married.  Sigh.  I have got to do this.  I want to get back there again.  An...

Mother's Day and Anniversary

We went to Crescent Bar this weekend for a little mini get-a-way to celebrate Mother's Day and our Anniversary.  The girls practically lived in the pool the whole time.  It's so great that they can be in the pool without water wings and we don't have to be right there holding them.  They can touch in the shallow end and they can swim a little and if they have a noodle or kickboard or something they are totally good to go.  Of course we're always nearby and we keep a close eye on them, but I could actually lie on a lawnchair and read my book while Paul was in the pool with them and I didn't always have to be right there with them like in years past.  I have a cute video of them swimming but I'm having problems getting it to upload. Anyway, we had a great time enjoying the nice weather and the pool, then we came home Sunday and went to dinner at the local Mexican restaurant and then to the yogurt shop for dessert.  The girls gave me cards t...

Weigh-in Wednesday

Well, it wasn't a great week.  I just haven't been very motivated.  I figured I'd be up a bit this week and sure enough I am.  1.4 pounds.  Not too bad.  Most of that might just be because I ate salty popcorn last night.  I've already blown it today, too, so I really need to get back on track tomorrow or that 1.4 will turn into 5 in no time. Anyway, I decided to start C25K again on Monday, but I'm starting with week 3.  I did week 3 day 1, or so I thought.  I couldn't remember for sure how it went and I ended up doing a little more than I was supposed to (I was supposed to run for 90 seconds then walk for 90 seconds, then run for 3 minutes and walk for 3 minutes and repeat.  Instead I ran for 3 minutes, walked for 2.5, ran for 5, walked for 2.5 and repeated).  Tonight I will do the real week 3 day 2.  I think.  I have a bunch of errands to do before we go to Crescent Bar this weekend and I won't have much ...

The Pool Debut and the Girls' First Hike

What a great weekend we had.  It was in the high 70s on Saturday and low 80s today.  Paul ran the Cinco de Mayo half marathon with a friend on Saturday morning so the girls and I went to cheer him on, then after lunch we broke out the pool for the first time this year.  Later in the afternoon we had several of the neighbor girls over playing.  Our neighbors, the parents of two of the girls that were here playing, brought over beers and daiquiris, then we decided to have dinner together but just potluck because we had already planned on grilling steaks but only had enough for us and they had already planned on grilling some pork loin.  Meanwhile, all 4 of our girls got invited to the house of one of the other neighbor girls that they had been playing with earlier by her babysitter for pizza.  So the neighbors brought their dinner over to our house and we sat outside and ate, just us grown-ups.  It was awesome.  And then we all g...

Weigh-in Wednesday and Phone Dump

I'm a day late with this but here it is.  For the first time in 2 years I have been able to lose more than 5 pounds without gaining it back.  Finally.  I'm down 2.2 this week, putting my total loss at exactly 7 pounds.  SEVEN.  Whoo-hoo!  My goal for April was to lose at least 5, so yay.  Now my goal for May is to lose 5.  But really I just need to concentrate on breaking the cycle and not gaining back what I've already lost.  I'm still feeling really motivated so that's good. In other news, we've had some crazy weather around here lately.  A week ago it was 70ish and the girls were running around in swimsuits, then Tuesday we woke up to snow.  Just a tiny bit that was gone by 10 or 11 AM, but it was 40 something all day.  Then yesterday it warmed back up to the low 60s and we're headed toward 80 by Sunday.  Might have to break out the pool. And since it seems I haven't posted other than WIW lately, here's som...
