A Typical Day (So Far) of Intermittent Fasting - Weekday Edition

So I am about a week into Intermittent Fasting and it's going well.  I'm down 3.8 pounds.  So far it's pretty easy (granted, it's only been a week).  The hardest thing is having to put up with black coffee from wake-up until 10 or 11 AM, but turns out I really don't mind it that much.  I'm kind of getting used to it, but I still look forward to that first cup with cream once my eating window opens up.

One thing that was hard this week is that I worked all night 3 consecutive nights (storm duty).  Normally it is not hard at all to not eat until 10 or 11 am (as long as I'm drinking coffee) but when I was awake and working all night I got a little hungry sometimes, especially since I had stopped eating by 7:00 (when I know I'm going to sleep later the next day I go from 7-11 instead of 6-10).  One night at 2 or 3 in the morning I broke down and ate a handful of Goldfish crackers.

So yesterday, for instance, I got up at 7:00, got ready for work (which most days consists of nothing more than brushing my teeth and putting my hair in a ponytail).  Then I had some coffee left over from the day before, so I heated that up and drank that black while starting my work day.  By 9:30 I was really ready for more coffee but of course had to wait until 10 so I could have it with half and half.  I was also starting to get hungry, but not bad.  At 10:00, I ate a blueberry bagel with butter on one half and reduced fat cream cheese on the other (for the most part I'm still going to try and eat fairly healthy but I just really wanted a bagel this time.  At least the cream cheese has a bit of protein), and poured a fresh cup of coffee with half and half.  Ahhhhh...

Around 2:00 I had a bowl of Trader Joe's Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, and some chips and salsa.  A little later I had a few pieces of Lily's chocolate (Stevia sweetened chocolate.  Way less sugar/carbs and way fewer calories than regular chocolate).  Dinner was Hello Fresh Beef Bulgogi Meatballs with rice and carrots (I went light on the rice) and then a bowl of reduced-fat/calories ice cream for dessert.  I was shooting to be done eating by 6:00 but it ended up being 6:30, so today I had to wait until 10:30.  So far, so good.

Hello, found your blog through Mix and Match Mama and we are about the same age. My husband wanted to do Keto in July, always battling his bulge and so I had read about IF and decided to do that as part of Keto, I weighed myself in September and had lost 12 lbs! I have been trying to get rid of that 12 lbs for 3 years! Our gym closed in mid March and we bike and walk, but had not been lifting at all. I have my window about the same as yours. Some days 7-11am and some 6:30=12. I guess it’s true I can’t out train a bad diet. It has been easy during COVID and hope to continue as is the easiest for me. I try to keep carbs down but this weekend am having some wine and cocktails. My husband is making a KETO friendly appetizer for our dinner later! Happy weekend.

Hello, thanks for stopping by! I'm seriously considering going back to KETO for awhile or incorporating it into the IF thing...we'll see. I keep eating too much chocolate and what-not during my window just because I "can", but it doesn't work that way! Congrats on the 12 pounds!

Luther Burbank Park

Last summer a friend of mine introduced me to this cool park on Mercer Island.  When we went, we only played at the swimming beach and never explored the rest of the park or played on the playground.  So yesterday, we finally went back with a picnic lunch and checked out some more of the park (there's still another section we didn't get to, so maybe next time).  The playground was really cool with all sorts of nooks and cranies, and old-fashioned metal slides and ladders.  They girls loved it. View from our picnic spot A pyramid with slides on the other side Lake Washington beyond Chair swings--never seen these before I-90 bridge over Lake Washington Trail along the lake leading to the swimming beach Should have brought swimsuits.  They were SO sandy and wet coming home.

First Day of 10th Grade

Today was the first day of 10th grade for the girls.  Sophomores.  I can't believe we only have two more of these.  Not counting college, of course. Kayley Kayley again Olivia It has become my tradition to take the day before and the first day off.  Back in the elementary days, the day before the first day was "meet the teacher day", so I would always take them to that, then in middle school we would just go to lunch or get our nails done.  Last year was their first day of high school, though, so that day was orientation and that brings us up to this year.  The day before the first day is "Wildcat Day", which is mostly a freshman and new student orientation.  Olivia is in ASB so she had to go help with that, but Kayley didn't go.  Instead, her and I took some of her old clothes to this resale store called Plato's Closet to try and sell them (it's similar to a consignment shop except they just pay you then and there and then resell them, instead of o

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 or 4:30. After their nap
