Multnomah Falls and the Oregon Zoo

We went to Portland last weekend to visit Paul's sister.  His parents came, too (drove separately).  Her apartment complex has a suite that they rent out to friends/family of the residents.  I'd never heard of an apartment complex doing that but this one does.

We got there late Saturday afternoon and just hung out by the pool for awhile, then had dinner in the suite.  After dinner we walked to a park to let the girls play, then they had a sleepover with their aunt in her apartment while Paul and I and his parents (her parents, too, obviously) stayed in the suite.  On Sunday we all went to church with her and then barbequed some steaks at her apartment, then drove to Multnomah Falls and hiked to the top.

At the top, small falls before the big one

She had to work on Monday so we were all on our own.  The parents just went to Costco and then home, while we went to the Oregon Zoo and headed home after that, stopping at their place for dinner to wait out the rush hour traffic.  The zoo was really fun.  The weather was perfect and we actually saw a lot of animals.  Seems like when we go to the Woodland Park Zoo here in Seattle most of the animals are hiding.

I was really hoping to experience Voodoo Doughnuts while we were there, but no such luck.

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 ...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
