Summer Vacation - Week 12

6 days to go!  Their school actually starts tomorrow, but all the kindergarteners have assessments this week so they don't start class until next Monday the 9th.  Here was our second to last week of summer vacation:

Monday - Played at home all morning (Olivia looked for friends to play with but no one was available).  After lunch, went to the library, then to Starbucks for a cake pop.  Only they didn't have the right kind, so we had to go to the frozen yogurt place instead, but Olivia still wanted a hot chocolate and I still got a skinny vanilla latte.

Tuesday - Played at home all morning, then with friends all afternoon.

Wednesday - Wanted to run some errands after breakfast, but the girls just wanted to play.  After lunch they started playing with a neighbor girl, but I finally coaxed them into the car around 3:00.  We went to the bank and then the pet store for cat food.  They love looking at all the animals.

Thursday - Went to the free matinee.  This week it was Rise of the Guardians.  The movie was at noon, which means we would have had to eat lunch at 11:00 but we don't usually eat breakfast until at least 9:00, so they just had a snack and then we went to McDonald's after the movie (just for them--I ate before because I didn't want McDonald's).

Friday -  Played with friends briefly after lunch then went to Target.  Whoo-hoo.

A Day in My Life

It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. Lunch is anywhere between 12:00 and 1:00, and nap is 1:30 or 2:00 to 4:00 ...

A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. For President's Day weekend we went to Crescent Bar and from there Paul and Kayley went skiing at Mission Ridge and...

Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any). Looking in from the kitchen.  Need curtains! Looking in from the living room.  Notice the plastic protector underneath, for when the kids throw their sp...
