Being a Mom of all Girls

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner again today for a post about being the mom of all girls.

I always wanted 3 kids.  Preferably 2 girls and a boy.  I thought it would be fun to have 2 girls close in age so they could be best friends and then have a boy in there, too, either first or last.  Just like the Conners from the show "Roseanne".
 
Then I reached my mid-30s still single with endo/fertility issues and knew that dream was shot (although, turns out, it really wasn't).  I decided I'd be ecstatic to just have one of anything.

Then I finally got married and after several fertility treatments including IVF, got pregnant with twins.  I was hoping for at least one girl.  I thought a girl would be more fun to dress and I wanted to be able to buy Barbies and Polly Pockets and princess stuff.  Boy/girl twins would have been really cool, but the nice thing about them being the same gender was that it made decorating the nursery easier.

I would have loved to have a third, and maybe I would have been able to realize my dream of 2 girls and a boy, or, just as great, had another girl with plenty of hand-me-downs, but we just really can't afford another, especially since we'd have to do a frozen embryo transfer (FET) and there's a good chance it wouldn't even work.  So, I am forever the mom of 2 girls.  And it's awesome.

aww i think it's great though, i grew up with only two sisters! i am actually hoping my next is a girl, too. i love the pic you put up of roseanne, too cute!

Thanks for stopping by. Your girls are cute! My second (Megan) had a twin that we lost at 16 weeks. I love seeing twin girls, always makes me think of her sister.

A Day in My Life

  It's time once again for the Multiples and More Question of the Week:  A Day in Your Life. What is your schedule like? Do you work outside the home or stay home with the kids?   I am very blessed to be a SAHM.  Our schedule looks something like this: The girls get up anywhere between 7:20 and 8:20, but usually around 8:00.  Lately I've been letting them watch an episode of Dora so I can get on the computer and check email, Facebook, etc.  Otherwise they just play for an hour or so and then we have breakfast. By the time we're done with breakfast (fixing, eating and cleaning up) it's usually between 9:30 and 10:00.  We get dressed, and then we go wherever we're going that day (errands, park, playdate, etc.).  If it's a stay home day, I'll usually do a DVD workout while they just play upstairs and then we'll go for a walk or play outside after. A Very Belated 2023 Recap

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break.  I only blogged three times last year and this will be my first post so far this year.  I just haven’t been in the mood but now suddenly I am.  We’ll see how long it lasts. Where to even begin?  A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The girls are about to turn 16, have jobs and are on the verge of getting their driver’s licenses.  We took an amazing trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas last summer.  We celebrated our 17th anniversary and are closing in on our 18th.  We attended some great concerts, did some fun hikes and have had lots of fun date nights, game nights and girl’s/guy’s nights out.  Ok, I guess that’s not all that much but whatever.  So, I guess to start off my 2024 blogging, I will recap 2023: I turned 54 in January. Show Us Your Life - Dining Rooms

It's time for this week's Show Us Your Life, brought to you by Kelly's Korner , and this week it's dining rooms. We have a very open floorplan, so when you walk in our front door the dining room is to the right and the living room to the left, with the fireplace straight ahead.  It's basically all one big room.     I bought the table and sideboard at Dania when I bought my first condo back in 2002.  It looked great in that condo, but for this house I wish I had black dining room furniture.  The table and sideboard are the same color as the trim, and then with the white walls (although we finally got one wall painted) it's just so blah.  And like most other rooms in the house, we have yet to hang curtains (not that we're going to hang them in every room, but we have yet to hang any).
